I love the groove of this track, J.J, Jackson’s “It’s Alright”. Not only does it simply jam, its message–that even if you’re down, you don’t have to create down work–truly inspires.
Thanks to Chuck Palahniuk, we have been reading a lot of Nora Ephron. As you saw 2 weeks ago, we read the novel–her only novel–Heartburn, which was a fictionalization of her heartbreaking breakup with her second husband. It’s was a rough, ugly breakup, but a funny novel. (Chuck was right btw, the movie is garbage compared to the novel.)
So this song is the musical equivalent of Ephron’s quote in Heartburn: “When you slip on a banana peel, people laugh at you. But when you tell people you slipped on a banana peel, it’s your laugh.” When you groove to your own heartbreak, it’s your jam.
